What exactly is a business account for a GbR?

The Qonto business account is a current account designed with companies like GbRs in mind. Just as with a personal current account, you can make and receive payments, only business accounts generally come with additional services that help support the company’s day-to-day finance management.

Do I need to open a business account for my GbR?

For most entrepreneurs it makes sense to open a business account for their company, if only to keep personal and business finances separate. Not only does it prevent any misattributions of funds, but come tax declaration time it’s that much easier to outline your business’ financial activity, as well as provide justification when necessary.

If you’re looking to or have already set up a GbR, there is no legal obligation to open an associated business account. However, we highly recommend opening a business bank account to make the process of keeping your bookkeeping in order easier for you.

What kind of documents do I need to open an account for my GbR?

To open a business account with Qonto, you need the following information:

  • legal name;
  • type of company (legal form);
  • registration date;
  • your Steuernummer;
  • type of business activity;
  • industry;
  • partnership agreement or trade license;

Additionally, for identification purposes we’ll need you to perform a video identification test via our partner, IDnow, where a consultant will check your identification documents online in real-time.

Which options of business accounts are available for GbR’s?

Can I upgrade my GbR account anytime?

You can upgrade or downgrade your Qonto plan anytime via your desktop or mobile app. Simply login, click Settings & Tools, then Account settings, then Price plan details to make any changes.

Is holding a business account for my GbR worth it, even if it’s only meant to be a side business?

While opening a GbR is a common solution for those looking to make additional income on the side or try out a new business idea, it doesn’t have to be expensive. Qonto plans for GbRs start at €29 per month.
